Undergraduate Thesis Project: Corrosion and Corrosion Inhibition in Dynamic Acid Media.
In my undergraduate Thesis project, I studied the effect of inhibitor on different meteal and alloys in dynamic acidic media. This thesis work is helpful in predicting the corrosion behavior of different metals and alloys in absence and presence of inhibitor Thiourea.
This study was carried out with dynamic acid solution (sulfuric acid solution at pH 2.4) in presence of anodic inhibitor thiourea. The effect of velocity and inhibitor concentration on corrosion behavior of four different metals and alloys (Stainless steel, Aluminum, Copper and Brass) was investigated and is reflected in the graphs It was observed that the potential of these four metals and alloys increases with Reynolds number which indicate that corrosion current increases with velocity in the observed velocity range. Also the potential of these metals and alloys shifts to relatively higher value with addition of inhibitor which indicate that corrosion behavior improves with inhibitor concentration.
In my undergraduate design project, i designed 100 ton/day phosphoric acid plant. In this project, i was involved in performing material ana energy balance of entire process, sizing of of all process equipments, mecahnical design of process equipments, and finally economical evaluation of this project.
